Buckeyes and Ted Kennedy

August 31, 2009

There are two things in which I consider myself well versed in. Purses and THE Ohio State Buckeyes. I know that some of you may be thinking that politics should be on that list but I am not expert on politics. You may be thinking, “thats all good and well Jen, but what can handbags or football have anything to do with Teddy Kennedy’s passing?” Well, I will explain.

Sometimes in order to make my feelings known it is much easier to relate it to something I know better than anything. For this example I will be using the Buckeyes. Back in the day, we had a coach at Ohio State. His name was *bows head in reverence* Woody Hayes. He is now considered one of the greatest coaches we have ever had. His overall record at OSU was 205-61-10 which is a little over a 76%. Absolutely amazing. He was a Buckeye through and through, and whenever anyone says that what they really mean is that they love the Buckeyes and HATE anything related to Michigan. The Ohio State-Michigan rivalry is not only the OLDEST rivalry in college ball it is also the most INTENSE. Woody Hayes embodies that to a T. In fact he rarely spoke of Michigan by name just as “that state up north” or “the team up north”. Michigan’s coach at the time of Woody’s reign was another famous coach Bo Schembechler. As much as Woody hated Michigan, Bo hated Ohio. They embraced the war with no-holds barred and often took things way too personal. It was NOT just another game on the schedule for them it was THE ONLY GAME that mattered all year. If either one of them had lost every game but the rivalry game…then the season was considered a victory. Woody died in 1987 at the age of 74, but will remain always as the greatest and most memorable coach in the Buckeyes history.

Fast forward to modern day. Our current coach is Jim Tressel is fast becoming one that equals Woody in record and ability to beat Michigan which in Ohio is really the only thing that matters. His main rival’s coach was Lloyd Carr and until last year they had met 7 times and only once had Carr beat Tressel in 2004.

In 2006, the Game of the Year became the Game of the CENTURY. Very few times in college football history have any teams ranked #1 and #2 in the polls met in regular season play. In 2006 this happened twice. First Ohio State vs. Texas…and then in November it just happened to be #1 Ohio State vs. #2 Michigan. Never before had our teams been ranked as such and the forecast was bleak for the Wolverines. Michigan knew that Tressel was prepared and they needed something to rally them. Something to motivate them. Something to try and forget what the experts were saying and beat the Buckeyes. And they got what they asked for.

On the eve of the biggest matchup of the year, mere hours before the game on the Friday before, the infamous Bo Schembechler died of a massive heart attack. Suddenly, the Wolverines were renewed! They were PUMPED! They had a mission and a goal. To win this game, the game that every Ohioan and Michigander waits for all year, for their beloved former coach. They were determined. They had the whole world watching as they entered that stadium with conviction to make Bo proud as he watched above from the clouds. To be completely honest, I was scared. I figured this rallying cry would work and that Michigan has just that oomph they needed to win. My father even said…”Just like Schembechler to die on the eve of the greatest matchup in our rivalry’s history. That’s just like a Michigander. What a dirty trick.” (If this statement seems insensitive or callous to you…you have never lived in Michigan or Ohio)

Well, when all was said and done, Michigan did not make Bo proud and lost to the Buckeyes that year 42-39. They tried hard, but let’s face it…it was still the same old Michigan team. Football games are not won by mere touchy-feely inspiration, but by actually playing football. You still have to score the points, you still have to break through the opposition, and you still have to face the fact that if you don’t stack up to the other side, you are going to lose no matter who wished for you to win on their deathbed.

By now you may understand the point. The healthcare bill is hanging on by a thread. Even the Democrats are starting to look out for #1 and what they need to do to get re-elected. They understand no bill that is currently proposed will be welcomed with open arms by the voters and that maybe now is not the time for reform as they have stated time and time again that it is. They needed something to rally behind. They needed inspiration. They needed a feel good dying wish mushy touchy feely reason for the citizens of America to stand behind. They needed a icon to stand behind. And they got it with the death of Ted Kennedy. Now they can say, do it for Teddy. Make his last wish come true. Don’t make his death be in vain. Don’t let the last thing Ted ever supported die a death like he did.

Well, like the Michigan Wolverine team of 2006, they can call their rallying cry, they can use his death as propoganda for the passing of this bill, and they can look up to the skies and say “This one’s for you TK”. But also like the 2006 Wolverines, its going to actually take a plan that is going to work to withstand us, the people who see past all the smoke and mirrors and see the truth. A bill that at its core, is just not capable of making a touchdown and winning the game of reform. Sorry Liberals, no matter what you name the bill, no matter how many different versions you put forth, and how many pages of incomprehensible nonsense you add, when push comes to shove….its not going to withstand our defensive line. But, I do give you credit for trying.

Ted Kennedy as a Michigan Wolverine

Sensationalism

July 10, 2009

This is something that has been on my mind…and so…of course…I feel the need to blog about it.

The far right, which I am proud to call myself a part of, need to be very careful of something that some of us are doing.  Sensationalism.  I have seen many tweets, blogs, and comments claiming certain things that are just not fair, right or good. When we sensationalize the events that are going on right now…we take our credibility and minimize it to just claims of unsubstantiated craziness.  We are all angry and outraged at the direction our country is headed in.  We are scared, shocked and feeling helpless at the sheer rate of changes being implemented daily.  But when we say things that are sensationalized then we take our outrage and make it something that the left cannot understand.

I in no way think we should bend our beliefs to appease the left.  But if we construct our arguments in an educated and fair way…they have so much more of an impact.  Do we need to vent?  Sure!  Do we need to get our frustrations out?  Of course!  Do we need to call our Country’s President the Anti-Christ?  No.

Let me show your examples of things we do not need to say.

Ali Bama is a Muslim Marxist.  Soon stoning women will be legal and they’ll be taxed if they scream.

Charles Manson Joins Team Obama to head up door-2-door census Will work with ACORN Criminals.

The easy part is getting Obama to Africa. The hard part is figuring out how to keep him there where he belongs.

Obama speaks in Eqypt.  Wonder if he invited his real father, although Satans schedule is quite busy.

Obama’s father didn’t abandon him, we killed him in WWII, just amazing Ava Braun and Hitler gave birth to a black man.

Are we sure Obama doesn’t agree with gay marriage? Oh, that’s a woman he’s married to?  Hard to tell.

Obama believes in partial birth abortion because he wished the option was available for the kids he has but doesn’t want.

Wow people, some of those are so mean, unfair, and just not right.  I believe Obama is ruining our country.  I think he doesn’t love America the way I do.  I think we are headed towards socialism and away from capitalism.  But saying we are going to stone women soon, he is hiring serial killers, attacking his wife and children…makes us just as bad as the people who did it to Sarah Palin.  Just not right.  Yes, speak your frustrations, get outraged, get angry….but don’t make claims that make us look like crazy people.

This is just my personal opinion….probably an unpopular one.

June 27, 2009

Well as we all know…cap and trade….HR 2454 is now in the hands of the Senate. The Senate reconvenes on July 6th, 2009. For your convenience I have listed below all the members of our 111th Congressional Senate. Please let me know when you have contacted them, their vote, and when they are up for re-election if you know. THANK YOU and we are the ones duty bound to let them know they represent us.

Obama ‘lei’s it on thick

June 27, 2009

Iran is still breaking out in protests, its young citizens fighting with their lives for the democracy and freedom they so richly deserve. A dictatorship ruled North Korea threatens to rain a ‘fire storm’ of nuclear power down upon the United States also holding an Anti-American rally where they speak their intent to blow America off the map. Congress is moving at lightening speed to slowly chip away at our freedoms and economy. The leader of the free world is aware of all these dire situations so what does he do? Well, throw a luau of course! Chalk full with a roasted pig (you’re welcome PETA), leis, and Robert Gibbs being ‘sacrificed’ in a dunk tank (is that considered waterboarding?).

When addressing the Congress invited to this festive occasion Obama said these words. “Aloha!” he screamed. “I wish I could have given you a trip to Hawaii. Given our budget crunch, we can’t do that, so at least we can bring Hawaii to you.”

HUH? WHAT? IS THAT A MISPRINT? No. Our narcissistic and pathetic excuse for a leader wishes not for the Iranian protesters to have freedom, or for North Korea to stop in their terroristic threats to our great Nation, but that he could award Congress…who undoubtedly does his bidding everyday…with a trip to Hawaii. Congress. The same Congress who yesterday voted in favor of the largest American tax increase in history with its egregious Crap and Trade bill.

Here’s an idea. How about instead of celebrating the Congress who is corrupt and flawed you celebrate with the men and women of our United States Armed Forces? How about you celebrate by standing up to the Iranian government or even the North Korean regime? How about instead of going for ice cream and throwing luaus you do something about the 9.4% unemployment rate that you promised would not rise about 8% if we passed that horrendous stimulus bill? WHY ARE YOU CELEBRATING AT ALL????????

This is NOT a time for celebration. We are in a dire economic situation. Our deficit is one that we cannot sustain. You are adding more and more taxes to the middle and lower class that you promised you would never do. You, Mr. President, belittle, debase, degrade, demean, diminish, disgrace, dishonor, humiliate, lower, mortify, reduce and shame everything this Country stands for. I hope you enjoy your roasted pig…although its a bit of an act of cannibalism to eat one of your own kind.

We are watching….and we are disgusted.

HR 2454

June 25, 2009

This is a call to action for all! This is not a partisan decision…but rather one that effects us all regardless of political beliefs. Congress is voting tomorrow on the HR 2454 bill. That is the one you have been hearing about called the “Cap and Trade” bill. This bill in inevitably cost you more money. It IS a tax. It will cost you more on your electric bill and reduce an already weak economy.

YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN TODAY AND TELL THEM YOU WILL BE WATCHING AND THEY NEED TO VOTE NO!!!!!!!!!

Here are a few things you need to discuss with your Congressman. This new bill will:

1. Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $9.6 trillion
2. Destroy an average of 1-3 million jobs, every year
3. Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation
4. Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent
5. Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent
6. Raise an average family’s annual energy bill by $1,500 annually
7. Increase the federal debt by 26 percent, which is $29,150 per person

It is time for the voice of America to be represented accurately by our representation. If you need to find out who your Congressman is and their number…

Remember: Congress is the voice of US. It is our duty to let them know!

Dear ACORN

June 22, 2009

Dear ACORN,

Shakespeare wrote:

What’s Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet

Meaning? That’s right. You can change your name. It does not matter. There is nothing in a name, and if changed, you will still be a fraudulent, criminal, corrupt organization. We will not forget who you are. We are not stupid enough to fall for your image makeover.

You can put lipstick on a pig and call it a lady…but it will stink like a pig, talk like a pig, and act like a pig.
So put on your lipstick and change your name, but we will not stop. We brought your organization to the forefront for your criminal actions. We “tarnished” the name of ACORN. I consider that a small victory. Next step, tarnish whatever name you hide under.

I think it is absolutely HILARIOUS that you consider us ignorant. I think it is funny that you think we will go away. It cracks me up that you think you can escape the justice that is to be brought upon you. WE WILL NOT STAND BY AND LET YOUR CRIMES BE FORGOTTEN. So, go on. Change your name. Put the lipstick on the pig that is ACORN. We will follow you where ever you go.

Wade Rathke and his brother Dale should expect a name change too. I propose their new names should be Inmate Wade Rathke, and his brother Inmate Dale Rathke, property of the Louisiana State Prison. Now THAT would be a name change I could stand behind.

You hide under the false pretense that you are organized to help the less fortunate in communities. You have done the opposite. You have taken community’s voice and skewed it to your liking. You have taken communities and brought them into your criminal activities. The $948,607.50 that Dale Rathke embezzled could have done a lot for a community. You are disgraceful.

So watch out “The Organization Formally Known As ACORN” we will be there. Every step of the way. Praying continually that God makes us the kind of conservatives that liberal organizations like you hate. Oh, and your welcome for my contribution to your organization. Do I get to attend your next $22,000 a plate gala event for my contribution? I didn’t think so.

Sincerely Angry,

Jenifer

GROW A BACKBONE!

June 16, 2009

When I was in high school, I was one of those strange kids who listened to Limbaugh and worried about grades. I was politically involved at a very young age. In the eighth grade, I was snapped in a picture on Bill Clinton’s Inauguration Day wearing all black with a Clinton/Gore button with an “x” over it. Everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, knew my political stance years before I could vote. Even back in those days, my views were the unpopular opinion. People ridiculed me…called me names…and said mean things to my face. Funny, but now when I look back on those days I remember thinking, I will pray for them. They’re so blind. I know they don’t know what they are doing. Prayer is powerful and I remember thinking “I give this burden to you God, take it out of my life”. The people who mattered, my family and friends, knew who I was and loved me. That is all that matters in this world. Pleasing God and making the people who believe in you proud of your actions.

Now, I look at our leader. Yes, the unpopular opinion might be to speak out against the injustice currently taking place in Iran. Its going to make people angry. It might even make you seem like you’re sticking your nose in where it doesn’t belong. If your friend was standing on a railroad track, a racing train headed straight for them, you would yell. You would scream. You would wave your hands. You’d run flailing towards them. You’d do this to prevent something you care about from ceasing to exist. So, Mr. President, I ask you. Who are you trying to please? Whose opinion matters to you? What do you stand for?

Mr. President, you are never going to be liked by everyone. The only people you should be trying to please are the people who believe in you. I am trying to believe in you. But obviously, my opinion is not one of the opinions you are trying to please. You do not have impress the leaders of foreign countries. People are going to dislike you when you do the right thing. Its hard to rely on the God you claim to serve. Leaders are often criticized when they take a stand. Remember Lincoln? The President you aspire to be? Lincoln was WILDLY unpopular. He stood up for freedom for all. He was only concerned with serving his God and his belief in the freedom all Americans deserve. Freedom is something that we should aspire to spread through the planet. Its a human right. STAND UP! TAKE A STAND! DON’T BE AFRAID TO LEAN ON GOD! God works miracles…and He will work them in the lives of those that serve him.

It is not a compliment Mr. President, that in the eighth grade, I had more of a backbone than you. A thirteen year old girl. You are the leader of the free world. Listen to those words. THE LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD. It does not say the leader of the free Gitmo Detainees. It is not the leader of the free universal healthcare. Those things are minute, and pale in comparison to the right that everyone has to freedom.

Mr. President, I will pray for you. I will pray for you to realize that we will stand beside you if you stand up against tyranny. We will stand beside you when you stand for the rights of human beings. We will stand beside you if you stand up for God’s chosen people in Israel. STAND UP MR. PRESIDENT. Be a Leader. Be a strong force for good in this world.

Mr. President, when you stand for nothing we cannot stand beside you. This pains us. You are not only letting down your country, you are letting down the people who thought America would stand behind them as they fight for freedom. Do not say that “world is watching and inspired by their participation regardless of what the ultimate outcome of the election was.” Don’t demean their plight like that. Don’t “watch” from the sidelines, be the coach teaching them how freedom is not free. Don’t be “inspired by their participation” but yet be the inspiration for a free world and YOU participate in their fight.

Be a President, be a Leader, be someone who makes us proud to be Americans. Grow a backbone, Mr. President. Grow a backbone made of God, your fellow Americans, and of the freedom that should bind us all together.

The Blame Game

June 13, 2009

Wanna play the Blame Game with me? Ok, GREAT! I’ll give you the rules.

For every question I ask….just say “The Bush Administration” Everytime you answer with “The Bush Administration” you get 5 points. Answer with any other answer than “The Bush Administration” and you lose 1,000 points. Any questions? Any? Any at all?

*waits 7 years for Nancy Pelosi to deny she knew the rules….*

Ok…lets begin.

Who bought the cigar used by Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky?

Who did Lee Harvey Oswald get his ideas from?

Where did Letterman get his jokes on Willow Palin from?

Who does Ahmadinejad have in a framed picture beside his bed?

Who created swine flu?

Who made AF1 fly on autopilot over NYC while someone else took pictures this year?

Who invented the grossly unfashionable fashion-don’t known as crocs?

For every answer that you responded with “The Bush Administration” give yourself five points.

For every answer you answered with any other answer….times that by 1,000 and ask ACORN if you can register to vote that many times under the name “Victor VonDoom”

Thanks for playing!

And remember, help control the pet population. Have your pet spayed or neutered.

Hate and the Liberal Hypocrisy

June 12, 2009

Whoever said sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me… was wrong. Words do hurt. If it were not for my faith in God and in the sense of self my parents instilled in me I would not be able to handle some of the comments directed at me. The mean spirit of some people who say horrible things to me, further causes me to lean on the love of my family and of the sovereign God that I believe in. Actually, that’s rather comical, considering they are spewing these words in hopes of destroying me while they actually make me a stronger Christian and believe more staunchly in the values I hold dear. Joke is on them.

I have good friends, actually two of my best friends who have had abortions. I see the trauma that they have endured because of this awful experience. I would never not love them because of this decision. My heart aches for the pain and disturbance it has caused to their emotional well-being. I love them and tell them God has forgiven them. I provide them with peace. That is the loving nature that was branded into me and expressed to me by my God. Yet, because I am pro-life I have been called a domestic terrorist, a close minded person, and a hate monger. I am not. I am the antithesis of that.

I have friends who are gay. I love them. I do not judge them for their lifestyle. I would probably be first in line to give them a hug, the shirt of my back, listen to them if they needed to talk, whatever I could to show them that my life is an example of the love God has for all of us. I do not stuff my religion down their throats. By example, I lead, and it is because of this example people see me as a different kind of person, and someone they aspire to call a friend. Yet, because I oppose gay marriage, I have been called a bigot, homophobic, and cold-hearted. I am not. I am the antithesis of that.

I have friends of almost every ethnic group possible. I love them because of the people they are. I see them as “friend”, “relative”, “support system”, not for the color of their skin. I see them for the value their existence has brought to my life. I don’t see them for their heritage, I see them as Americans like me. Yet because I disagree with the current policies of our Nation’s first black president I am seen as a racist, as intolerant, as narrow-minded and xenophobic. I am not. I am the antithesis of that.

I have friends who are atheists and agnostic. I pray for them the same as I do my Christian friends. I love them in spite of their beliefs and love that they love me in spite of mine. I do not censor my feelings around them, as they do not with me. I do not feel the need to cease praying around them, just as I am not offended that they do not join me. Yet because I believe we should remember this is a Christian nation and that my belief in God should be celebrated, I am called a religious zealot, a extremist, a bible thumping hillbilly. I am not. I am the antithesis of that.

For all of those liberals that have called me those names, I pray for you. It saddens me that these terms that have been ferociously thrown at me have been created by the left to spread the inequality they claim to be trying to lessen. I offer you this as a closing thought….

Since I have never, ever, EVER judged someone based solely on their race, religion, political stance, or past actions, I ask you….who is spreading the hate? Its not me. Those hateful words are your own, liberals. You created them. As a suggestion, if you really want to destroy hate in America, maybe you should live your life as an example of the antithesis of hate, instead of hypocritically spreading it.
